Melanie Kershner

Melanie is an interior designer, fine artist, decorative painter and partner in Beaux-Artes. As an interior designer, her specialty is classical interiors using ornamentation, plaster hand painted ceilings, and traditional style French wall panels combined with decorative and fine art canvases.  She and her husband, Stuart,  and son, Hudson, began Beaux-Artes with a unique line of historically inspired Classical decorative products designed for modern interior applications to provide  a classical alternative to common industrial features, such as HVAC grilles and recessed lights.

Melanie is passionate about the rebirth of the new Classicism.  The term classical as it relates to excellence in human endeavor whether it is mathematics, art, architecture or music.  This blog is devoted to the expansion of the classical language to include the classical principles in interior design, architecture of residences and all types of buildings and the arts.  The future of the Classical tradition is in our hands.

  1. Hello Mrs Kershner:
My name is Susan Hamm and I live in Charlotte N.C. I am on your blog list and I really like receiving your blogs. Everything you show and do are very inspiring for people with the finest of taste. I did not see on your blog where you are located. Where do you and your family live? It is always interesting to now where a person lives or a little about their history of how they got to where they are now. My husband and I have lived in a lot of different places due to my husbands naval career and that has a profound effect on our children and where they have ended up. I and my husband build french trumeau mirrors and we also build upholstered furniture because we are fortunate enough to be right here in an area where a lot of furniture in made. One of my daughters lives in Europe and when we visit her we are always eager to experience all that we can when we are there — I never wanted to leave Versailles.
Thank you for sharing your information and fine taste on your blog– It means a lot to me to know that there are some people out there who still know the meaning of Classic taste, fine furniture and fine living.
    Susan

    • Hi Susan:
Thank you for your comment. It is nice to know others that love and appreciate classical beauty. We live south of Annapolis, MD on a tributary of the Chesapeake Bay because of my husband’s love of sailing. My background as an interior designer and artist was the backdrop to pursuing the highest expression of beauty to my taste which is classicism. Charlotte is a lovely place to live. We have visited friends and family there several times. Would love to see your mirrors. I have blog post I am working on about window headers and trumeau mirrors are the inspiration. Use the contact me information if you are interested in having some of yours included.
      Melanie
