The Classical Point of View
The Classic Spirit is the love of order, balance and symmetry.
It does not deny originality and individuality – they are welcome and inevitable. “Classicism is not a style” Demetri Porphgrios. It is a body of knowledge both theoretical and practical. As such it can be learned, expanded and adapted to changing conditions. Classical allows the present to be contemplated from a timeless point of view. All Classical art and architecture is in this sense contemporary. Here are some examples of contemporary furnishings and manufacturers showcasing their furniture in these timeless settings.
Classical interiors are not limited in their artistic possibilities but are free to assume any number of identities embracing the principles of the classical interior – space, structure, the orders, ornament, proportion, decoration, light, color, character and the elements that comprise it – ceilings, wall treatments, moldings, floors, doors, windows, fireplaces, stairs and casework. I look forward to presenting the New Classicism.
