Where to Use Classical Wall Panels
Adding Panels to a room is an elegant addition regardless of the style of your furnishings. Some of my all time favorite rooms have beautiful paneling as the backdrop with today’s overstuffed upholstery and an eclectic collection of interesting pieces. The key is organizing the wall space with symmetrical panels. Most people cannot afford fabulous original art so they use prints, faux finishes, photographs, paint, wall coverings, mirrors, etc. to adorn an otherwise large expanse of drywall. The use of paneling provides organization and architectural features which enhances the space tremendously and then you can add to them or not with pictures, stencils, faux finishes, wallpaper, paint.
Beaux-Artes panels are a very affordable alternative to carpenter created panels. Any room can be paneled. They work particularly well in two-story foyers and great rooms, living rooms, dining rooms (which in many homes already have a chair rail and dado), master bedrooms, family rooms. I did say all rooms. Here are some drawings to give you an idea of layouts.
