A personal favorite the Apollo Fountain at Versailles. The sculpture is gilded lead and was executed by Tuby in 1668-70. It was inspired by the ceiling painting Aurora by Guido Reni.
This large view is wonderful except for the book binding, but I didn’t want to lose any of the image.
This powerful sculpture may have been the inspiration for this amazing inside pool mural by Karl Rampp shown in the book Trompe L’Oeil Today by Ursula E. and Martin Benad. This is one of my favorite books for trompe l’oeil. The quality of the art is superb.
More views of Apollo.
The interiors of Versailles are little over the top for me, but the fountains and sculptures are amazing. Enjoy and who knows maybe one of these images will end up as a mural, painting or an inspired corner in your garden.
Too bad this picture was taken in the Fall!
