Wedgewood Console Inspiration Piece
Love this Wedgewood Console from Mclain and Weisand. It is 55″W x 19-7/8″D x 35″H and retails for $6,250. A great look and inspiration to create your own version if that price tag is too high. The best paint for painting furniture which will give the perfect matte finish is Annie Sloan Chalk Paint . Mixing the Paris Grey and Duck Egg Blue together would make a great color.
Depending on the piece you are refinishing, I would suggest choosing composition ornament from Decorators Supply. The traditional technique for applying composition ornament is to steam it which activates the animal glue in the ornament and apply it to an unfinished wood surface.
But in the application of creating the wedgewood look, we have successfully worked with compo by heating it in an oven at 200 degrees and shaping it to be sure it is straight, etc. while it is still warm. We are then able to paint the ornament white to be applied to our painted furniture. We use DAP adhesive caulk in clear and apply it sparingly so as not to create excessive adhesive to clean up. A small art brush can be used to detail around the ornament.
