Focal Point Fireplace Designs
A fireplace becomes even more of a focal point for the holidays. A beautifully decorated fireplace was difficult to find. The focus of this blog is not decorating your fireplace for the holidays but giving you some inspiration to pump up the beauty of your fireplace by adding ornamentation and or a faux finish.
This appears to be a 2-story fireplace. Since we don’t know what the entire fireplace looks like, the Corinthian capitals with an acanthus crown is a powerful focal point fireplace.
I wouldn’t want to cover too much of this beautiful under mantle header with garland. Personally I love the look of a white fireplace with an antique gold finish on the ornamentation.
Here is an under mantle we did using a black granite cabochon for the unique center to coordinate it with the fireplace surround.
Beaux-Arts Classic Products is introducing finished ornamentation for walls, ceilings, fireplaces, doors and windows. Here is a link to the Under Mantle Ornament shown above in our Umber Gold finish. 51-1/2″ x 4″ $330. That does not include the center shown above.
It is the Season so here is some holiday eye candy along with fireplace design ideas. This Holiday garland allows a view of the ornament, which I love. The style of the carving compliments the proportions of the fireplace surround.
White River has some beautiful carved wood centers.
36″ x 7-1/2″ x 7/8″R $181.00
A Simple and elegant fireplace and the decorations work for me. This fireplace style is a perfect candidate for embellishing with ornament and taking it to another level of artistry.
Love the color of this Lindenwood carved urn from White River. I would faux the fireplace to look like lindenwood and use the urn center for a fireplace with the simple lines of this one.
Lindenwood Urn $77.99
Another great fireplace center, also from White River.
This beautiful wood fireplace is a good inspiration picture for a lindenwood faux finished fireplace.
The White River moulding painted with gold accents creates a lovely focal point fireplace.
Here a mantel was added which creates a lovely look.
This focal point fireplace is fabulous and doesn’t need much holiday decorations. This simple design would look great with different flowers or greens.
My preference would not have the decorations cover the ornament. Something with sides to frame the beautiful fireplace.
Ornament would look great added to this fireplace. This is nicely framed by the garland.
How about this beautiful Center in White DO-801 15″ x 48-1/2″ x 1/2″ $256
These griffins would be perfect for this fireplace. Depending on the room decor Dark Bronze would look great with the fireplace screen. Shown in Copper.
Griffins DO-751 6-1/4″ x 44-1/2″ x 3/4″ R $250
This fireplace design has a narrow under mantle and the swag works perfectly for the space along with rosettes and a vertical drop.
This fireplace has a wonderful center. That may be all your fireplace needs.
Cartouche 11-3/4″ x 8-3/4″ $69
Another option for this fireplace is an Empire frieze DO-741 12″ x 8-1/2″ x 3/4″ $75 a linnear ft.
Love this look of framing the surround with a great egg and dart moulding.

Instead of a center feature a running ornament is another great choice for an under mantle design.
Black is a great choice as a fireplace finish.
Spectacular room and focal point fireplace.
Decorators Supply Composition ornament added.
Lastly some standard fireplaces which would look great with ornamentation added.
Note the quality of the ornamentation on this fireplace. It does not have the detail of historic carvings.
Wishing all my readers the best Holiday Season ever.
